Polishing has the following characteristics:

1. The method of polishing is simple and the cost is low.

2. Polishing is suitable for curved surface processing. When the elastic polishing wheel is pressed on the surface of the part, it can change with the surface of the part, that is, it is consistent with the curve, so it is easy to realize the surface polishing and facilitate the finishing of the mold cavity.

3. Polishing can not improve the machining accuracy. Because there is no rigid motion connection between the polishing wheel and the parts, and the polishing wheel is elastic, it can not guarantee that the material can be evenly cut off from the surface of the parts, but can only reduce the surface roughness value and can not improve the processing accuracy. Therefore, polishing is only limited to the surface decoration processing of some products or as the pre-processing before electroplating.

4. The working conditions of polishing are poor. Polishing is now mostly manual operation, heavy work, and poor working conditions.

The effects of grinding, honing, super polishing and polishing are different. Polishing can only improve the brightness of the part surface, but not to improve the surface roughness of parts. Super smooth grinding can only reduce the surface roughness of parts, but can not improve the size and shape accuracy. Grinding and honing can not only reduce the surface roughness of parts, but also improve the size and shape accuracy to a certain extent.

From the application range, grinding, honing, super polishing and polishing can be used to process a variety of surfaces, but honing is mainly used for hole finishing.
